Privacy Policy

PreciAgro is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your agricultural data. This policy explains exactly what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your information. Our core principle: your farm data belongs to you. We are stewards of it, not owners.
1. What data we collect
Photos and images
Photos you send of your crops via WhatsApp, our app, or web. These are used solely to generate agricultural insights for you.
Location data (GPS)
Your approximate farm GPS coordinates. Used to retrieve local weather data, soil maps, and regional crop information. Never shared or sold.
Messages and queries
Text messages and voice notes you send asking for farming advice. Stored to build interaction history that improves advice accuracy over time.
Farm profile data
Farm size, crops grown, location, and history you provide during onboarding or through interactions.
Device and platform data
The channel you use (WhatsApp, SMS, app) and basic device identifiers for delivery and session management.
2. How we use your data
Generating your advice
Your photos, location, and crop data are combined with real-time weather and agricultural knowledge to generate the specific advice you receive.
Improving the system
Anonymised and aggregated interaction data is used to improve the accuracy of our AI models for all farmers. Your individual identity is never used in training.
Account management
Your contact details are used to manage your pilot membership, send program updates, and respond to your queries.
Research and reporting
Aggregated, anonymised data may be used in academic research, grant applications, or public reports about agricultural trends. No individual data is ever disclosed.
3. How we protect your data
Encryption in transit
All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3.
Encryption at rest
All stored data — including images, messages, and farm profiles — is encrypted at rest using AES-256.
Access controls
Only authorised PreciAgro team members with a legitimate business need can access your data. Access is logged and audited.
No third-party sales
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for commercial purposes. Ever.
4. Your rights
Access
You can request a copy of all data we hold about you at any time by emailing privacy@preciagro.com.
Deletion
You can request deletion of all your data. We will remove your account and all associated data within 30 days, unless we are required by law to retain it.
Correction
If any data we hold about you is inaccurate, you can request a correction.
Portability
You can request your data in a machine-readable format (JSON or CSV) for transfer to another service.
Opt-out
You can opt out of anonymised data use for model training at any time without affecting your access to the service.
5. Data retention
Active accounts
Data is retained for the duration of your account plus 12 months after your last interaction.
Deleted accounts
Upon deletion request, personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymised aggregate data may be retained indefinitely.
Images
Crop photos are retained for 6 months to enable historical comparison and improve diagnosis accuracy. You may request earlier deletion.
6. Compliance
Zimbabwe Data Protection
We comply with the Cyber and Data Protection Act of Zimbabwe (2021) and all applicable national data protection regulations.
GDPR (EU users)
For users in the European Union, we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation. Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interest for service delivery and consent for marketing.
Children's data
Our service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
